McChicken Calories

The popular McChicken sandwich today comes in a toasted bun with chicken and an assortment of fillings, but it wasn’t always a hit. In fact the first time it came out in 1980, sales were so low they were replaced by the hugely popular Chicken McNuggets. After this success, McDonald’s reintroduced the McChicken in the late 1990s, and it continues to be part of the McDonald’s menu.

The current McChicken contains 100% white meat, but the other ingredients included in the product vary from region to region to suit the taste and demands of the local populace. In the US itself there are several variations available. In the south and southwestern part of the US, the most popular variant is the Hot n Spicy, while in Hawaii you’ll instead find the McTeriChicken, which comes with teriyaki sauce.

Beginning March 2013 though, McDonalds’ incorporated the Hot n Spicy version in their Dollar Menu, where most of the food items are sold for just one dollar. While the Hot n Spicy has become very popular, other variants have appeared including the Jalapeño Cheddar McChicken, which comes with white cheddar cheese and spicy jalapeno peppers. Another increasingly popular variant is the Cheddar Onion McChicken, with its white cheddar cheese and caramelized onions.
